At North Star American Bistro, we pride ourselves in providing top-notch hospitality, an approachable menu for all to enjoy, and a comfortable atmosphere for you to gather among friends and family. We believe small details can make a lasting difference which is why we choose to use fresh ingredients when preparing our (consistently delicious) interpretations of classic American meals. We also offer you a full bar, happy hour, and an incredible space to gather with friends.

       Food was excellent, atmosphere was okay. Price I was charged for my meal was more than listed on the menu, but didn't notice til I arrived back home. They are a bit expensive. $40.00 for one person is a bit much.

      Me and my better half both ordered burgers and fries. We came there for a late lunch and we’re very impressed. The service we got was outstanding and the food was delicious every bite of the burgers was a burst of flavor that’s all I can say we definitely plan to go back.

      Staff were friendly and attentive. Basic Midwestern food, flavors were ok, nothing spectacular. I may be on an island , IMO, predictable food combinations without enough flavor.

A Peek Into How North Star Got Started

If you ask Mike and Duffy, they’ll tell you they had a couple of beers, found a place, and the rest is history. Those things did happen, but there’s much more to the story. Duffy and Mike have been in the restaurant industry for many years and their paths finally crossed while working for a restaurant group in Milwaukee. After the previously mentioned beers, they found a location in Shorewood—just across the street from where you may be seated now if you’re in Shorewood—and, on a shoestring budget, launched the first North Star American Bistro.
